Bid Description: Contra Costa Transportation Authority: Project Title: Shared Micromobility Pilot. The Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCTA) and the City of San Ramon are collaborating to deliver a shared micromobility system that would operate in and around the City of San Ramon. Both agencies plan to work together with the goal of providing high quality mobility options in the I-680 Corridor as part of Innovate 680. The City of San Ramon has expressed interest to develop a Shared Micromobility Pilot as a model for providing greater options for non-auto trips, promote community wellbeing, while regulating these new shared mobility device companies and technologies to protect public safety and equity. The CCTA is conducting the procurement effort in a leadership role on the Pilot as CCTA seeks to include shared micromobility in its Bay Area Mobility-on-Demand Pilot (a multi-modal trip planner in the I-680 Corridor spanning from Walnut Creek to San Ramon), which is a component of CCTA’s Innovate 680 program. As the Congestion Management Agency for Contra Costa, CCTA supports and seeks to advance sustainable and equitable transportation programs for all, and to provide options for non-auto first/last mile (FM/LM) trips to transit. The CCTA is requesting information regarding the delivery of a shared micromobility system and seeks a single operator (or operator team) to manage and expand a coordinated micromobility program for acoustic bikes, electric-assist bicycles, electric sit-on trikes, and electric stand-on scooter devices in order to help the I-680 corridor region meet its aggressive mobility goals for reduced single occupancy vehicle (SOV) use and increased shared multi-modal trips. The pilot program will build upon the experiences with previous or existing bikeshare programs, and the need for high quality service; targeted marketing, equitable programming, and excellent customer-service. The City of San Ramon, the City of Walnut Creek, Town of Danville and the County have all indicated the need for shared micromobility in their bicycle/ pedestrian plans and are at various levels of policy direction relative to implementation. The City of San Ramon has approved staff to move forward with implementation.
