City of Jacksonville:*Addendum 1* for (Envirobidnet Original bid# 551453)Notice of Disposition/Old City Hall/Old Court House/Development of Convention Center. Development of Convention Center Hotel, Parking Garage and Public Convention Center Space. The Downtown Investment Authority (“DIA”) is requesting proposals from firms for the development of a minimum of 350 room full service Convention Center Hotel, Parking Garage and Public Convention Center Space (the “Project”) on the site of the Old City Hall 6 Annex, Old Courthouse and Old Courthouse surface parking lot in downtown Jacksonville, Florida. (See Attachment 1 – Site Map). The DIA envisions a new Convention Center, Hotel and Parking Garage, if developed, to be an immediate enhancement to the financial viability and dynamism of surrounding facilities in the Urban Core and the Sports Complex, and to the City of Jacksonville in general. While not seeking to be overly prescriptive on design, the DIA expects that the Project will exemplify exceptional architecture that complements the vitality of downtown Jacksonville. The Project will function in harmony with, and support the activities and events of the Riverfront and the Sports Complex. It is envisioned that the new Project would create and support new demand for Convention Center facilities, promote larger events in adjacent areas of the Urban Core and Sports Complex, and possibly spur additional development in the area. The prospective Project will also exemplify environmentally sustainable technology related to design, construction, and efficient operation. The eventual development and design of the Project should allow for maximum flexibility in order to respond to changes in community and market needs over coming decades.
